Our journey to bringing Authentic Indian Cuisine to Perth and the UK started when Praveen and Swarna opened Tabla Restaurant in Perth, Scotland, in 2009In 2019, Praveen and Swarna launched Praveen Kumar – Authentic Indian Cuisine. 

 

Over time, our team has grown and whilst we are still a proud family-owned business, we have some great team members who help us deliver our mission every day.

Praveen & Swarna Kumar

Founders, Director and Operations Manager

Praveen and Swarna were born and brought up in rural villages in Southern India where meals are cooked daily, using fresh ingredients grown in local fields. They married and moved to Scotland where combining their passion for good and simple food, they founded the bustling TABLA Indian restaurant in Perth in 2009. It was soon recognised with 1AA Rosette, and a “Taste our Best” award by Visit Scotland, and has been popular with the locals ever since.

 

Praveen heads up PraveenKumar.com, and is always busy planning new ways to expand. Swarna overseas all our operations, including our wholesale business.

 

Praveen and Swarna have now permanently settled in Perth, Scotland and have been blessed with two daughters, Tanvi and Tansi. They all enjoy cooking, and looking after their own vegetable garden.

 

Praveen’s favourite curry is our famous Kodi Koora, made to his grandmother’s recipe.

Sanjay Bhattacharya

Project Manager

After 3 years in London as a professional Chef following his degree in Biochemistry, Sanjay moved to Perthshire in 2019 and soon met Praveen.

 

They hit it off, and after teaching classes at the Indian Cook School, Sanjay joined the PraveenKumar.com team as the business grew.

 

Focussed on delivering new avenues for the business, digitising and streamlining processes, and ensuring customer satisfaction, Sanjay still manages to spend time cooking, gardening and hiking, all with his partner Livvy.

 

Sanjay’s favourite curry is the Railway Boti!

David McEvoy

Business Development Manager

David McEvoy is highly qualified and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management. He has over 20 years sales experience gained in the energy industry, running several departments from on-line sales and call centre’s to commercial business sales staff. 

 

David was persuaded to come out of retirement to help Praveen and Swarna set up their new business using his UK wide sales experience and trade knowledge. 

 

He says “I was really only prepared to help where the product was of good quality and had a future. After seeing and tasting the meals it was a very easy decision to come and help. Like me, I’m sure you’ll love the food being delivered to your doorstep – it makes for a fabulous dining experience. “

Happy Singh

Head Chef

Born and raised in Punjab, Happy manages our team of professional Chefs, and ensures that all our dishes are cooked to perfection.

 

Having worked with Praveen for over 10 years at Tabla Restaurant, Happy is a key member of our team and has settled in Perth with his family. He loves cooking traditional rustic Indian dishes and sharing food with his friends.

 

Happy’s favourite curry is the Lamb Bhuna!

 

Jenny Law

Logistics & Office Manager

A Perth local, Jenny was a fan of TABLA Restaurant and jumped at the chance to join the PraveenKumar.com team.

 

She manages all our deliveries and stock levels, ensuring that there is enough of every dish to fulfil all our orders, as well as managing day-to-day tasks in the office. Jenny enjoys spending time cooking!
